HST president to receive STEP award

ELK GROVE VILLAGE - The Manufacturing Institute award Kathryn Miller, president of HST Materials Inc., with the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award.

The awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory-floor to the C suite. The STEP Ahead Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.

HST Materials is a fabricator and die-cutter of sponge and dense rubber, plastic, films and tapes in Elk Grove Village. HST produces gaskets, seals, molded rubber parts and many custom designed elastomer and tape solutions for such industries as automotive, transportation, lighting, electrical enclosures, industrial products and appliances.

"I am honored to be recognized by The Manufacturing Institute for this prestigious award," said Miller,

whose company celebrates its 30th year in business in 2017. "Meeting the other award recipients in Washington D.C. in April and learning their stories and successes will serve as an inspiration as I continue to grow HST."

The Manufacturing Institute will recognize all 130 recipients of the STEP Ahead Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. The STEP Ahead Awards program will highlight each honoree's story, including their leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
