Local Habitat to host 25th annual walkathon Feb. 25

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley will be celebrating a notable milestone, its 25th annual Walkathon from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.

This historic event will take place at a new location, Woodfield Mall, one of the largest shopping destinations in the United States with more than 300 retail, dining and entertainment choices. This family friendly event raises both monies and awareness about the work Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley does right here in the community.

With an aggressive goal of raising over $7,500, the funds generated on behalf of the walkathon will help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance though shelter.

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

Habitat for Humanity's work is accomplished at the community level by affiliates - independent, locally run, nonprofit organizations. Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat's home building in is local area - fundraising, site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction and mortgage servicing. Founded in 1990, the Northern Fox Valley affiliate works in the Chicago area's northwest suburban area and has completed more than 100 homes to date.
