District 102 expansion could be done in fall 2018

Aptakisic-Tripp Elementary District 102 officials estimate a $19 million to $25 million expansion and upgrade of schools in Buffalo Grove could be complete by fall 2018, officials announced Tuesday.

School board members approved a plan Jan. 23 to increase classroom space to accommodate 280 students per grade, compared to the current 250 students at each level.

The district hired architecture firm Wight and Company to prepare preliminary drawings by the end of the school year, officials said.

The project will include a significant expansion to Aptakisic Junior High and renovations at the other schools, but details and exact costs have not been approved.

The school district will pay for the expansion with alternate revenue bonds and budget reserves.
