Fundraiser to help pair rescued pit bulls with veterans

The new Main Event Entertainment in Hoffman Estates will host the 4th annual Patriots, Pits & Pins fundraiser for Pits For Patriots on Sunday, March 5.

The Bensenville-based organization trains rescued pit bulls to work as service, therapy, skilled companion and emotional support dogs for U.S. military veterans and first responders.

"Military veterans and first responders routinely put themselves in harm's way to protect the public, often at great cost," Pits For Patriots founder Kelly Yearwood said. "These fundraising events play a big role in helping us pair these heroes with life-changing, rescued service dogs, specially trained for their unique situations."

The event costs $30 for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under. Admission includes unlimited bowling, billiards, gravity ropes, laser tag and a $10 arcade game card. There will be raffle prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

All the proceeds will be used for the training, feeding, housing and veterinarian care for the rescued pit bulls preparing to be service, therapy and search-and-rescue dogs.

The event will run from 5 p.m. until midnight at Main Event Entertainment, 2575 Pratum Ave. in Hoffman Estates, near the Sears Centre Arena. For reservations or tickets, go to pitsforpatriots.org/events. For additional information, including about sponsorship opportunities, email events@pitsforpatriots.org or call (630) 440-8054.
