Floor & Decor opening sixth Illinois store at Gurnee Mills

Floor & Decor, a specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring, will open its new Gurnee Mills location - the company's sixth store in Illinois - on Jan. 12.

The 69,310-square-foot Floor & Decor retail store and design center, at Gurnee Mills, opens with a team of about 40 employees led by Andrea Dentel, the new store's chief executive merchant.

"Floor & Decor is thrilled to open our doors in Gurnee," Dentel said. "With the launch of our sixth store in the state, we are committed to providing Chicagoans with an extensive array of flooring products at unbeatable prices, and we look forward to forming relationships with this great community, one shopper at a time."

Established in 2000, Georgia-based Floor & Decor offers homeowners and professional contractors access to a superstore range of selections at warehouse prices with showroom quality. Each Floor & Decor location is bolstered by a local focus that creates a store experience and mix of products meeting the needs of each market served. Floor & Decor offers free design services, as well as a sales team, and carries more than 1 million square feet of in-stock flooring.

Other stores are located in Arlington Heights, Aurora, Lombard, Skokie and Countryside.

Following the grand opening, the Gurnee Mills Floor & Decor store will host a family-friendly "Super Saturday" event on Jan. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. Bricks 4 Kids will have an interactive Lego station, with Duplo blocks for 3-5 year olds and Legos for children 6 and older from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. During that time, there will also be face painting and popcorn from Popcorn for All. Customers will be entertained by acoustic guitarist Judson Brown from noon to 2 p.m. and will have the opportunity to meet the Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew.
