Hearings set on Des Plaines election objections

A previous version of this report erroneously said the hearings would start Thursday morning.

The Des Plaines electoral board is scheduled to hear arguments by candidates who are objecting to the their opponents' eligibility for the April 4 election.

The electoral board, which includes the mayor, city clerk and senior alderman, will listen to preliminary motions on objections in the 1st and 7th wards.

First Ward aldermanic candidates Steven Mokry and Mark Lysakowski each filed objections to each other's nominating papers.

Bob Porada, a candidate for 7th Ward alderman, objected to incumbent Alderman Don Smith's run for re-election. Porada also is seeking to remove Mayor Matthew Bogusz and City Clerk Gloria Ludwig from the electoral board.

The hearings start 10 a.m. Wednesday in the city council chambers at city hall, 1420 Miner St.
