Niles Township contributes $46,500 for Oakton scholarships

Niles Township donated $46,500 to Oakton Community College to pay for scholarships for high school students from the community, according to a news release.

The money will support students who attended Niles North and Niles West high schools. Students with a 2.5 grade-point average who demonstrate financial need will have the cost of tuition, fees and textbooks covered, Oakton President Joianne Smith said.


"The Niles Township Board is investing in our collective future by supporting these students," Smith said.

About 2,300 Oakton students are from Niles Township communities.
