The Huntley Area Public Library District Friends Foundation is seeking end-of-year gifts to the library.

Residents seeking a tax deductible donation before Dec. 31 may wish to consider the library for a gift. Donations will be used to purchase condensed packaging for DVDs and CDs and more efficient shelving for magazines to free up space in the overcrowded library.

The new packaging could reduce the space needed for the existing collection by up to two-thirds.

"The campaign began on Giving Tuesday to raise awareness and funds for the crowded building," stated Pamela Kampwerth, Library Liaison to the Friends Foundation. "We are accepting donations through the Friends website by credit card, as well as cash and checks payable to the Friends Foundation, which can be mailed or dropped off at the library."

The Friends Foundation also funds the library's summer reading program and all programs hosted at the library for residents of all ages. The Friends are a 501(c)(3) public charity, and receipts for donations are available.

"The goal for this year's Giving Tuesday campaign is $10,000, and we have raised nearly $7,000 already," Kampwerth added. "It's rather exciting."

For more information about making a donation to the Friends Foundation, contact Kampwerth at (847) 669-5386, ext. 228, or pkampwerth@huntleylibrary.org.
