On December 14, Campanelli School welcomed the vice chancellor of Wenzao Ursuline University of Language, Dr. Li-Yen Chen, and the directors of the Culture Center and Education Department of Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Chicago, Mr. Wei-Zan Wang and Mr. Ching-Fong Dong.

The visitors spent time in kindergarten through fifth grade Chinese Immersion classrooms, where students shared their writing with the visitors and explained their reading tasks in Mandarin. The guests were all very impressed with the students' comprehension, the comprehensive instruction, and how much the students are able to write in Chinese and speak in Mandarin.

District 54's Mandarin Chinese program, which began in August, 2011, at Campanelli School, has a strong partnership with the Culture Center of TECO. The Center offers culture training workshops every year and always invites District 54's Chinese Immersion teachers to attend. The center also supports the district's Language and Culture summer camp by supplying materials.

"We appreciate their participation and collaboration, and we look forward to more opportunities to work with all these organizations," said Campanelli Principal Amy Christie.
