Skillicorn takes 66th House District
Republican Allen Skillicorn of East Dundee handily won the 66th House District, earning 58 percent of the vote with all precincts counted in unofficial totals.
The two-term village trustee ran against Democrat Nancy Zettler, a 58-year-old retired attorney from Algonquin, for the 2-year seat being vacated by Republican Mike Tryon.
During the campaign the candidates cited getting a state budget passed, ending corporate tax incentives and providing property tax relief to residents among their priorities.
Skillicorn, 42, supports instituting a property tax freeze and getting rid of unfunded mandates and corporate tax breaks.
The district includes portions of Algonquin, Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, East Dundee, Elgin, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Lakewood, Sleepy Hollow and West Dundee.
