Buffalo Grove Police offer online reporting option

The Buffalo Grove Police Department now provides an online option. This web-based reporting system allows the public to file certain incident reports at their convenience.

Examples of reports that can be filed include identity theft, lost driver's license, lost property, harassing telephone calls and vacation house watch requests. The department expects this service to be a popular option.

The service allows people to file a report at a time that is convenient without having to wait for an officer to respond, or call them back. People are able to print a temporary copy of the report upon submitting it. The report will be reviewed by police personnel and, once approved, the filing person will receive an email with a copy of the report at no cost.

The report will transfer into the Buffalo Grove Police Department's records management system and receive the same investigation and statistical analysis as if the report had been filed by a police officer.

This web-based reporting option will allow officers more time to address community needs while keeping pace with the public expectation to be able to complete services via the internet whenever possible.

The department is using the Desk Officer Online Reporting System from software company Coplogic Inc. The service is at www.vbg.org/police.
