GOP philosophy has country reeling

For over 30 years, I have heard from the Republican Party that the government is broken. Yet they have been in power for most of those years.

If you say something loud and long enough, people start to believe you.

We have taught our children that our leaders we elect are corrupt, that the American government is working against the people and is evil. Most of that rhetoric has come from the Republican Party.

Donald Trump and the GOP want less regulation and to reduce the upper bracket and corporate taxes even more. This from a billionaire who pays no federal taxes. Trickle down has not worked in the past, so why keep saying it will.

We have lost the belief that the American worker and American products are the best in the world. Example: why is Detroit bankrupt? Just look at what's in the parking lot your next trip to the mall. If you see a Trump sticker on a foreign car ask the owner to make America stronger - next time buy Ford or GM.

I am old enough to remember when most homes in Chicago were heated by coal, the snow turned black in a day. Acid rain was destroying the rivers and lakes of the Northeast. Illinois has a huge deposit of coal, soft coal (high sulfur) if burned would destroy the environment. Yes, progress can be destructive.

Voting is a not only a privilege but a duty. Wise up and vote for the party of Social Security, 40-hour workweek, Medicare, health care and civil rights. The inclusive party not exclusive. The party that instills the Audacity of Hope.

Vote and vote Democratic.
