Program explores enhancing spiritual journeys through using aromatherapy, essential oils

Presenters include Pamela Riley-Valesh and Thecla Rettberg, both of whom are registered nurses, certified aromatherapy practitioners and certified reflexologists.

Aromatherapy works by enhancing the senses of smell and touch, inviting an enthusiasm for experiencing the Divine. In addition to enhancing one's spiritual journey, aromatherapy can extend that connection to others.

Using essential oils and aromatherapy is a form of body prayer grounded in the Bible. In fact, oils for healing, cleansing and holy anointing are mentioned more than 500 times in the Bible and many of them, including aloes, cassia, frankincense, hyssop, balm, spikenard, cedarwood and myrrh remain familiar today.

A free-will offering at the door will be welcomed, and reservations are encouraged by Thursday, Nov. 10, to ensure seating.

"Essential Oils & Aromatherapy" is part of St. Thomas' Wellspring series of programs co-sponsored by the Pastoral Care and Adult Faith Formation Departments. The series presents interactive educational experiences whose goal is promoting a wholistic way of life that includes body-mind-spirit integration and well-being.
