Elgin man sentenced for forcing his way into Palatine apartment

An Elgin man who police say forced his way into a woman's apartment last year pleaded guilty to criminal trespass to a residence, court records show.

Albert Moore III, 30, was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay $649 in fines, according to court records.

He received credit for 109 days in custody.

Police say Moore broke the front door of his ex-girlfriend's Palatine apartment in August 2015 and then forced open the door of the bedroom where she had retreated.

Court records show the judge granted the woman an order of protection, which remains in effect until October 2022.
