Gas line struck in Elgin

It took nine hours Tuesday for crews to repair a gas line struck by a contractor doing work on Elgin's west side. The six-inch gas line was severed about 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of Congressional Parkway and Tournament Drive, where crews were working on a construction project. Full story.

Trial begins for man accused of assaulting toddler in Mundelein

Jose Reyes created "every parent's nightmare" when he abducted a 3-year-old child outside a Mundelein apartment complex, then molested her in his car in September 2013, a prosecutor said Tuesday as the Chicago man's trial got underway. But defense attorneys said the voluminous pile of evidence stacked against Reyes, 31, is almost "too perfect". The trial is expected to last the remainder of the week. Full story.

Florida-based Paragon Theaters has acquired Star Cinema Grill movie theater in downtown Arlington Heights and added several upgrades for moviegoers.
