Help animal shelter by joining 5K run

The 10th annual Panting for Paws with Helping Paws Animal Shelter will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at Lippold Park, 8597 Route 176 in Crystal Lake. The Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K run is at 9 a.m.

Both the 5K run/walk and the 1-Mile Fun Run will take place on a CARA-certified flat scenic course of crushed limestone near the baseball pavilion in the northeast section of the park.

Register at helpingpaws. net for $35 for 5K and $20 for Fun Run and Race Day Registration is $40. Shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after Oct 15, but they will be distributed while supplies last. Online registration will close at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3. Packet pickup and in person registration will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Helping Paws, or starting at 7 a.m. at the race Sunday.

Prizes and medals will be awarded to the top female and top male runner and medals will be awarded by age categories.

Participants can register individually or as a team.

For the safety of everyone, there will be no pets allowed on any of the race paths. However, leashed dogs current on their vaccines are welcome as spectators to bark for their humans.
