Oakton to host Friday night art and music events

The Oakton Community College Performance Arts Center lobby is the place to be for art and music events on the last two Fridays of October when the college hosts "The Art of Music/The Music of Art" and "Jazz Lounge" at the college's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.

Experience the best of Oakton's art and music students at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 by listening to performances and viewing original paintings, drawings, collages, photography and 3-D art while mingling with the artists that created them. Admission is free and open to the public.

The following Friday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m., the Oakton Jazz Band, directed by Robert Evans, entertains with a blend of classic and cool jazz standards, and the Oakton Jazz Combo showcases its improvisational skills. General admission is $5, $3 for students and seniors, and refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program.
