An exemplary official

In this anti-political environment, when many of us would just rather "throw all the bums out" and start over, it's important to recognize the few politicians who are actually keeping their promises.

Keith Brin, Lake County's circuit clerk, is one of those good ones. When he ran back in 2012, he promised to modernize the clerk's office and be conservative with our tax dollars. Since we elected him, he has kept those promises.

He's led a hugely successful modernization effort, bringing the clerk's office into the 21st Century without using tax dollars to do it. And he's cut the office's budget by over 20 percent - 20 percent! When do you hear that a government body cut its budget by that much?

Keith Brin has kept his promises, and he is an incumbent that I will be supporting this election. I hope others will join me.

I have known Keith since he was a high school senior. He was exemplary then and is, if not more so, exemplary today.
