Forest Fitness walks offer nature and exercise

Forest Preserve District of DuPage County

Adults are invited to get fit in nature with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's "Forest Fitness Walk" series.

The walks will be offered from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mondays starting Oct. 31 at various preserves.

The brisk hikes are planned at the following preserves: James "Pate" Philip State Park in Bartlett on Oct. 31; Herrick Lake in Wheaton on Nov. 7; Fullersburg Woods in Oak Brook on Nov. 14; West Branch in Bartlett on Nov. 21; McDowell Grove in Naperville on Dec. 5; Greene Valley in Naperville on Dec. 12; and Fullersburg Woods on Dec. 19.

A special 10-mile Forest Fitness Walk also will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Waterfall Glen in Darien.

"Whether you join us for just one or come back each week, you'll be able to explore some of the county's most popular trails and experience the beauty of nature," Commissioner Linda Painter said.

All walks will be led by a ranger and naturalist. Every week the distance of the walks will increase. The district offers more than 145 miles of trails to explore year-round.

The walks are for ages 18 and older. The cost is $4 in advance and $6 at the walk. Register online at dupageforest.org or by calling (630) 850-8110.
