Cook County court clerk waives past-due fines

The office of Cook County's clerk of the circuit will waive collection fees on past-due fines for five days beginning Monday, Oct. 17.

During "amnesty week," the clerk's office will collect payments in person at Cook County courthouses from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 21. Courthouses accepting payments include the Second District courthouse at 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie; Third District courthouse at 2121 Euclid Ave., Rolling Meadows; and the fourth, fifth and sixth district courthouses in Maywood, Bridgeview and Markham.

Payments can also be made at the Richard J. Daley Center, 50 W. Washington St., Chicago and the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S. California Ave., Chicago

The office will accept payments by phone from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The number for suburban districts is (708) 974-6449. The number for Chicago districts is (312) 603-2933.

The clerk's office will accept cash, check or money order for full or partial payment.

To ensure collection fees are waived, mention "amnesty payment" to the clerk when making a payment.
