'Rocky Horror Show' coming to Cutting Hall

Theatre Nebula is bringing the cult classic musical "The Rocky Horror Show" to the Cutting Hall stage just in time for Halloween.

This live musical, with music, lyrics and book by Richard O'Brian, is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1940s-1970s. This year is the 40th anniversary of the release of the film version that created the cult classic genre.

It tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror. Audiences will "Time Warp" back to the 1950s.

"We encourage patrons to wear a costume in the 'Rocky Horror' theme; sharpen your stilettos, fish out your fishnets, and prepare to party with the outrageous mad scientist Frank N. Furter," said Theatre Nebula Artistic Director J. Spencer Greene.

"Complete with sass from the audience and available participation props, this deliberately kitschy rock 'n' roll sci-fi gothic is more fun than ever."

Performances run 8 p.m. Fridays and 8 and 10:30 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 15-29, at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

Tickets are on sale through the Cutting Hall Box Office or cuttinghall.org. Advance tickets are $20, $16 for students and ages 55 and older, and $12 for children 12 and younger. Tickets are $2 more at the door.

Props are available to purchase. Due to mature themes, the show is not recommended for those younger than 14.

Theatre Nebula is a nonprofit, non-equity, professional theater company formed in 1999.
