Former Round Lake village clerk was known for her kind demeanor

As a familiar presence in the Round Lake area, Lillian Mary Frost was known for her lively demeanor.

"She was an amazing woman. Everything came from her heart," said Peggy Gustafson, who worked with Frost at the village offices for many years.

Frost, who served as the Round Lake village clerk from 1989 to 1999, died Saturday. She was 82.

Raised on the Raupp family farm in Long Grove, she married Edward James Frost Sr., in 1957 in Buffalo Grove. The couple moved to Round Lake shortly after and stayed. She was a homemaker who took pride in raising her family. Once the nest was empty, she worked at Baxter for 15 years, then was selected by then-Mayor James Lumber as city clerk.

Gustafson described her as a go-getter and frequent volunteer.

"She was one of the sweetest ladies I ever met," Gustafson added.

Frost made friends easily and was always up for a game of cards, according to her family. She was a devout Catholic and dedicated member of St. Joseph Church in Round Lake, where she served on the parish council for several years.

Angie Cevallos, who recently retired after working 45 years in the parish office, knew Frost for most of that time.

"She was just a wonderful, amazing lady. Every time you saw her, she was smiling," Cevallos said. "If you needed something done, you could always count on Lillian."

Surviving are sons Edward (Susan) Frost Jr., of Bloomingdale and Timothy Frost of Round Lake, and a daughter, Terese "Terry" Frost of Round Lake Beach; two grandchildren; and, her brother, James (Marie) Raupp of Lake Zurich. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and her parents.

Visitation is 8:15 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Justen's Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake. A funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 114 Lincoln Ave., Round Lake. Cremation will be private.

Memorials can be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, New York, 10163.
