Girls volleyball: Stevenson's tops in Discovery field

Jori Radtke had 63 kills, as Stevenson's girls volleyball team went 4-1 in the Glenbrook North-hosted Discovery tournament, which finished up on Saturday.

Radtke pounded 18 kills and added 2 aces, and the Patriots wrapped up the tourney by outlasting West Aurora 19-25, 26-24, 25-10. Sophie Sorenson and Hope Havenhill added 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Alex Cuc dished out 26 assists and served 3 aces.

Stevenson (25-7) also beat York 25-23, 25-18 on Saturday. On Friday, the Patriots opened with a loss to Glenbrook South before defeating Wauconda and Buffalo Grove.

Wauconda (12-13) went 2-3 in the invite. The Bulldogs were led by Nicole Carazas (25 kills), Lauren Sexton (23 kills) and Jane Sakowicz (70 digs, 11 aces).

At Antioch: Lakes took third in the invite, as the Eagles picked up wins over Zion-Benton (25-16, 25-16), Hampshire (25-16, 21-25, 25-14) and Deerfield (25-10, 25-10). Lakes lost to Palatine (18-25, 26-24, 15-12) and Lake Forest (25-23, 19-25, 15-9).

The 2-3 performance left Lakes with an overall record of 21-9.
