Oct. 21: ManUp Male Success Conference at CLC

The Seventh Annual Man Up male student success conference, sponsored by the College of Lake County, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21.

This free event begins in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington Street, Grayslake. The conference is designed for Lake County high school and college students and includes a variety of success workshops and lunch.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Terrell Strayhorn, is a nationally known presenter, instructor and author in the field of higher education. He is a professor of higher education at Ohio State University, where he is director of the Center for Higher Education Enterprise. Strayhorn will speak on what colleges can do to boost the success of men of color.

Workshops will cover the male ego, male stereotypes and the media as well as practical topics such as how to enroll at CLC and pay for college.
