COD Hosts Events to Honor Disability Awareness Month

The College of DuPage Office of Access and Accommodations is hosting a variety of events in recognition of October as Disability Awareness month.

Sponsored in part by a Carl Perkins Grant, the month will include guest speakers, workshops and film screenings, covering challenges such as Alzheimer's disease, Asperger's syndrome, dyslexia, hearing impairment and mental illness. The Ability Exhibit, an interactive display designed to develop allies for people with disabilities will be in the Student Services Center atrium Oct. 17 through 19.

"Movie Mondays" will include the following screenings:

· Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw at 3 p.m. on Oct.3 in the Student Services Center, Room 2201.

· The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia at 3 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the Student Services Center, Room 2201.

· Adam at 3 p.m. on Oct. 17 in the Student Services Center, Room 2201.

· Still Alice on Oct. 24 in the Student Services Center, Room 2201. Screening time TBD.

· Sound and Fury on Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Room 3245.

All film screenings will be followed by a discussion.
