Boys soccer: Harvest Christian takes Hampshire tournament crown

Raphael DeSouza scored twice and had an assist to lead the Harvest Christian boys soccer team to a 3-1 win over Romeoville Saturday in the championship game of the Hampshire tournament.

Cesar Velazquez added a goal for the Lions, while Westin White and Victor Croitoru each had assists.

Matt Baron made 2 saves in goal for Harvest (11-2-1).

St. Edward 8, Walther Christian 0: Josh Johansen scored twice while Carson Scarnegie, Will Gaston, AJ Franklin, Uriel Carachure, Carlos Ibarra and Chris Riedle each added single goals for St. Edward in this Metro Suburban win. Zach Olenek, Franklin, Isaac Nordan, Max Lindemann and Cameron Kruk each had assists for the Green Wave (6-0 MSC). Evan Sajtar and Kruk split time in goal with Kruk making 2 saves.

St. Edward 8, Elgin Academy 1: In its second game of the day, the Green Wave won this nonconference contest easily as AJ Franklin had a hat trick and Josh Johansen added 2 more goals. Also scoring were Zach Olenek, Uriel Carachure and Adam Davis. Will Gaston, Carachure and Jacob Shepherd each had s assists while Chase Brieger and Franklin added one each. Evan Sajtar manned the net for the Wave (14-3) but didn't make any saves. Karan Gowda scored Elgin Academy's goal off an assist from Elliott Wittmeyer. Pranav Sai had 7 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers (5-8).

Jacobs 0, Naperville Central 0: Ethan Pickering made 6 saves in goal for Jacobs (10-3-4) in this nonconference tie.

Westminster Christian 7, North Boone 3: Will DeHaan scored 6 goals and Dillon Leach added a single knock to lead the Warriors (10-7-1) to a nonconference win. Ben Versluys had 4 saves in goal for Westminster.

Harvard 2, Burlington Central 0: David Murphy made 7 saves in goal for the Rockets (5-6-5, 3-2-3) in their Kishwaukee River loss.

Marmion 3, Oswego 0: In nonconference action, James Serrano, Jack Kavanaugh and Quinn Gratz scored goals for the Cadets while Sean Miller and Anthony Zangler had assists. David Chiesa and Danny Galush split time in goal for Marmion (4-11-1).

Streamwood 2, West Chicago 1: Aldo Lazaro and Jorge Bracamontes found the back of the net for Streamwood in this Upstate Eight crossover win. Gregorio Esteves had an assist for the Sabres (10-5-3), who got 5 saves in goal from Daniel Dominguez.
