Blackhawks nab preseason victory over Blues
Artemi Panarin, Michal Kempny and Tyler Motte scored second-period goals and the Blackhawks went on to claim a 4-0 preseason victory over St. Louis at the United Center on Saturday.
Panarin's goal was the first of the preseason for the Hawks, ending a 152-minute drought. Last year's rookie of the year ripped home a one-timer off a pass from last year's MVP, Patrick Kane.
Motte scored the final goal with 39 seconds remaining.
The game had numerous fights, and Niklas Hjalmarsson delivered a nasty head shot to Ty Rattie with 65 seconds left in the contest that drew a five-minute major penalty.
Scott Darling continued his solid play in net, stopping 18 shots. Darling has made 51 of 53 saves in his two games for a .962 save percentage.
