Barrington schools honor Don Thompson on Saturday

Lifelong Barrington resident and Barrington Area Unit District 220 student, educator and administrator Don R. Thompson will receive the 2016 Distinguished Graduate Award at the homecoming football game Saturday.

Thompson graduated from Barrington High School in 1961 and began teaching at Sunny Hill Elementary School in 1966. In 34 years with District 220, he was a teacher, associate principal and principal at two elementary schools and three middle schools. Thompson is the only person to ever serve as principal at all three Barrington 220 middle schools: Prairie, Station and Hickory Hill.

Upon retiring in 2000, Thompson continued as a part time consultant through 2003.

Thompson will be honored at halftime of the game, which kicks off at 1 p.m.
