Saint Viator Welcomes Alumni for Homecoming and Reunions

Graduates of Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary high schools are being called back home for the 2016 Homecoming and Reunion weekend October 14th and 15th. All alumni/ae are invited to be a part of festivities on October 14th and graduates from the classes of 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2006 and 2011 will have reunions that weekend.

"This is a very special time of year for our community," said first-year President Brian Liedlich. "We very much look forward to seeing former students and know that they always welcome the chance to reconnect with one another."

The events begin at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th as graduates are invited to tour the school to see the latest updates and renovations. An alumni mass will follow at 5:00 before everyone makes their way to Morris Field for the Homecoming football game.

"As we do each year, we'll have an Alumni Tent set up where all Sacred Heart and Saint Viator alumni can enjoy free food and drinks," said Director of Development, Tom Ramsden. "We've welcomed big crowds in recent years as former students of each decade find their way back and get to reconnect with old friends."

Five and ten year reunions will take place that night for the classes of 2011 and 2006 respectively at Ditka's in Arlington Heights. "We're offering special pricing for these two classes that includes heavy appetizers and an open bar from 9:00 until midnight. These are alumni who are really getting established in their lives and careers, and always have a great deal to catch up on with each other. Since many of them are still in the area we are hoping for a big turnout."

Saturday night brings reunions for classes of 1976, 1986, 1991 and 1996, also at Ditka's. During those earlier years Saint Viator was not yet co-ed but the reunions include the graduating classes of Sacred Heart. "We believe that when you are a Lion, you are a Lion for life," said Liedlich, "but we respect the wonderful tradition of Sacred Heart of Mary and acknowledge the close relationship that existed between the schools. We know that as these classes gather, there will be plenty of wonderful stories shared and friendships rekindled."
