Go for a fright-seeing tour in Schaumburg

Help judge the spookiest houses in town during the Schaumburg Park District's Halloween House Decorating Tour.

Set for 6-8:30 p.m., Oct. 25, the tour leaves from the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Participants will help decide which homes take home top prizes. Categories include scariest, most interactive and best use of technology.

"Our tour driver plays Halloween music while we go from house to house," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Neighborhood Center manager and general program supervisor.

District residents who wish to enter their homes into the contest may submit entry forms at the CRC by Oct. 21. Homes must be within District boundaries. Entry is free.

Contestants are welcome to take the tour, but may not participate in judging.

In addition to bragging rights and a Schaumburg Park District yard sign, winners receive an Ala Carte Entertainment gift card.

"There are some creative residents in the competition," Benson said. "Some decorate their front and backyards and put motion effects in the windows. The time and energy put into decorating their homes is amazing."

Cost to take the tour is $8 for residents and $12 for nonresidents.
