The Lake County Community Proud to Participate in The Lake Forest Shop's 15th Annual Shop Your Cause Event

Waukegan, IL - September 29, 2016 - The Lake County Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Chicago Community Trust, invites supporters of Lake County nonprofit organizations to "Shop Your Cause" at The Lake Forest Shop as the merchant raises funds for eleven organizations.

This year's Shop Your Cause takes place at The Lake Forest Shop on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, kicking off with a 5:30 p.m. opening night celebration during which The Lake County Community Foundation will honor founding board member Prue Biedler, who was instrumental in establishing the organization and, after three terms as a board member, now serves as a Lake Forest Alderman.

"Prue was one of the early supporters who helped turn the vision of establishing a community foundation here in Lake County into a reality," said Foundation executive director Miah Armour. "She's been committed to seeing it succeed every step of the way, as a long-standing leader and voice for Lake County's most vulnerable residents and as an advocate for more impactful philanthropy and collective giving."

In addition to honoring Biedler, two representatives of The Lake County Community Foundation - manager of community engagement, Maggie Morales and Chala Holland, the principal of Lake Forest High School and a member of the Foundation's Grants and Community Outreach Committee - will be modeling some of the season's latest fashions.

During "Shop Your Cause," shoppers get a 10 percent discount and 10 percent of the proceeds from qualifying purchases will benefit the charity of a shopper's choice from the following Lake County nonprofit organizations:

Lake Forest Symphony

Deer Path Art League

Lake Forest Preservation Foundation

Ragdale

Lake Forest Open Lands

EcoMyths Alliance

Bernie's Book Bank

The Lake County Community Foundation

Citadel Theatre

Mother's Trust Foundation

Stirling Hall

Over the years, over $300,000 has been raised for Shop Your Cause participants.

Participate by attending the Shop Your Cause opening night on October 5th, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at The Lake Forest Shop, 265 E. Market Square, or shop between the 5th and October 8, 2016, mentioning The Lake County Community Foundation at purchase.
