Trinity hosts Rom Lectures on Preaching Oct. 4-6

Trinity International University will host the 37th annual Rom Lectures on Preaching, Oct. 4-6, at 11 a.m. each day in the A.T. Olson Chapel on the Deerfield campus.

The lecture series, hosted annually by Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), has long provided an opportunity for members of Trinity and the community to receive lectures and lessons from respected Christian leaders in the modern world.

This year, TEDS welcomes Dr. Dave McClellan as the featured speaker for the Rom Lectures. The pastor of The Chapel at Tinkers Creek in Streetsboro, Ohio, as well as adjunct professor of communication at John Carroll University, McClellan's theme for the Rom Lectures this year is "Faith Comes By Hearing."

Started in 1981 and named after the late Rev. Bernhard Rom, these lectures were funded by Rom's family to honor his commitment to biblical preaching and to his leadership within the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA).

Teachers and preachers from all over the country have come to Trinity to speak during the Rom Lectures, including Alistair Begg, John Piper, Philip Ryken and Ravi Zacharias. Each speaker brings his or her own unique perspective to bear, and all are united through Rom's memory and their desire to teach students the importance of biblical preaching.

Responses from both TEDS and Trinity College professors over the course of the three-day lecture and sermon series will round out the program. Each day will emphasize a different aspect of communicative preaching in the areas of Bible poetry and narrative.

The Rom Lectures are all free and open to the public.
