Tri-Cities Little League offers a free girls' softball clinic Oct. 9

Tri-Cities Little League has scheduled a free fall softball clinic with in-house coaches for all local girls interested in sharpening their playing skills, including pitching, fielding and hitting, at the Randall Oaks sports complex from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. This softball clinic is the first step in the process of implementing a wider, more competitive girls' softball program.

The sponsored softball clinic will utilize current coaches from TCLL and is expected to feature local high school softball players and volunteers from sports facilities to assist. This one-day clinic is geared toward Minors B Level (7- and 8 year-olds) all the way through Juniors Level (13- and 14-year-olds). TCLL currently does not have any senior league players.

Female softball players will be able to practice and learn new, fast-paced and challenging drills to help improve their skills and get to the next playing level. The players will work within their age group and learn the proper mechanics needed to succeed. TCLL is asking each player to attend completely equipped with appropriate softball gear (softball glove, helmet, long pants, etc.). An RSVP is not required, and all attendees are welcome with or without prior experience. If you have any questions, email the clinic coordinators, Chris Robertson at ChrisR@tri-citiesll.com or Jason Cook at cooklaw@sbcglobal.net.

Current vice president of minors Chris Robertson, along with spring 2016 Majors Level Manager Jason Cook, have begun a process of revamping its high-in-demand softball program as they transition into their new positions starting in October, succeeding John Connors and Chris Hernandez as the vice presidents of Tri-Cities Little League softball.

Both Robertson and Cook have reached out to numerous prior and current in-house softball coaches to determine their interest in managing and/or coaching for the 2017 season. They also are seeking additional volunteers who are interested in managing or coaching for the spring 2017 season for the Minor B, Minor A, Majors and/or Juniors levels.

Tri-Cities Little League is a nonprofit volunteer organization serving the youth of our community since 1953.
