#22 Pushups at annual DuKane ABATE Toy & Food Run to honor those who serve

Did you know that 22 veterans commit suicide a day? DuKane Chapter of ABATE will help to honor those who serve and to raise awareness of veteran suicide prevention by helping to reach the goal of 22 million pushups.

During this year's Toy & Food Run Oct. 9, they hope to have the largest group of pushups in one place.

Between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., the group will ask everyone on stage, in front of the stage and in the crowd to stop and all together do 22 pushups or more. The event will be videotaped. They will upload the video to #22 pushups for @22 kill.

The 30th annual Toy & Food Run will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

By joining this year's event, you will help 18 local charities with your food donation or unwrapped toy.

Watch all the motorcycles from across the state bring in donations while being led by Santa Claus and Governor Bruce Rauner.

Enjoy seven bands including three national acts - Skinny Molly of Nashville, Tenn.; The Second Shot Band from Jacksonville, Fla.; Fairview Union from Knoxville, Tenn.; and Pat Capone, radio personality, 103.9 The Fox, formerly from WLUP "The Loop" and his Bootlegger Band.

Enjoy barbecue brats, hot dogs, burgers and wings. There will be door prizes and vendors featuring leather, art, jewelry, patches and more.

Stop by the nonprofit booths and learn more about Mutual Ground Inc., Illinois Department of Children and Family Services - Elgin, Family Shelter Service, Elburn Food Pantry, St. Vincents de Paul Pantry, HELPS Ministry, Aurora Soup Kitchen Inc., Breaking Free Inc., Aunt Martha's Youth Services, Lutheran Family Services, and Fox Valley Christian Action.

You can register from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at multiple locations: City Limits Harley, 2015 N. Rand Road, Palatine; DeKalb Harley-Davidson, 969 N. Peace Road, DeKalb; Fox River Harley-Davidson, 131 Randall Road, St. Charles; Heritage Harley-Davidson, 2595 Ogden Ave., Lisle; Illinois Harley-Davidson, 9950 Joliet Road, Countryside; Starved Rock Harley-Davidson, 750 Centennial Drive, Ottawa; Wild Fire Harley-Davidson, 120 W. North Ave., Villa Park; Woodstock Harley-Davidson, 2235 S. Eastwood Drive; and the Toy Shop & Motolounge, 1224 N. Roselle Road, Unit A, Schaumburg.

The motorcycle parade lineup at Knuckleheads Tavern, 108 E. North St. in Elburn, will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade leaves Elburn at 12:30 p.m. and is fully escorted to the Batavia Overseas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, off Route 25 in Batavia.
