St. Francis de Sales School shows its spirit

Walking paid off for St. Francis de Sales School students during their 10th annual Spirit Day fundraiser Wednesday at the school in Lake Zurich.

All 375 students in preschool to eighth grade participated in the event, which included a prayer service, a pep rally, a robotics demonstration and the Spirit Walk.

Students in grades third through eighth walked 1.3 miles, while kindergarteners through second-grade students walked a 0.7-mile course. The preschoolers marched around the school parking lot.

Money raised goes to the school's PTO and will be used for computer upgrades, software purchases, field trips and programs. A goal of $25,000 was set.
