Explore the 'Golden Memories' at Elgin parks Oct. 2, 5

The Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation is hosting the second series of "Elgin's Parks: Golden Memories" events on Sunday, Oct. 2, and Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the historic Lords Park Pavilion, 100 Oakwood Blvd.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, Jerry Turnquist, Bill Vincent, and Steve Byers will talk about Trout Park, its history, baseball and unique natural features.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, Steve Thoren will focus on Wing Park Golf Course, its history as the oldest city-owned 9-hole golf course in Illinois, and its famous golfers.

These free events are being offered to bring together people who want to reminisce about the great times they have had in Trout Park and Wing Park Golf Course and for all people who want to learn about their storied history.

No pre-registration is required to attend these free events.

The "Golden Memories" program is sponsored by the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation and presented in conjunction with the Elgin History Museum.
