Free concerts, craft beer, hard cider & bags contest at Harvest Fest this Weekend

The Downers Grove Park District is bringing the community together at the new Harvest Festival on October 1.

The event, from 10am to 7pm at Fishel Park, offers a full-day of activities including food, live music, crafts, children's activities, a beer garden and hard cider tasting!

Harvest Fest Organizer, Rich Zizek said, "The Harvest Fest is a great opportunity to support local businesses while providing a new, seasonal event for the community to look forward to each Fall in Downers Grove. We would like to thank our local sponsors for their generosity in making this event possible."

Start your day at the Fest by strolling through the Homemade Craft Fair, featuring over 20 crafters, where you'll find unique handmade items. A variety of food from local businesses will also be on sales starting at 10am. Vendors include Emmett's Brewery, Real Urban BBQ, Wells Street Popcorn and Miner Mike's Snack Shack! Young visitors are invited to visit the Fresh Thyme Pumpkin Patch kid's area for face painting, bounce houses and kid's crafts.

The live music begins at 12:30pm, when The Hat Guys take the stage. Try some local craft beers from the Emmett's and Alter Brewing beer tents from 11am to 6:30pm, or starting at 3pm, try a flight of hard ciders to get you in the fall spirit.

At 3pm the 2016 Alter Brewing Bags Tournament will begin (registration will be accepted until 12pm on the day)! Cash prizes will be awarded to the top two teams. Finally, to end the evening, enjoy a free concert featuring 7th heaven, from 5 to 7pm.

The Harvest Festival is free admission for all ages but don't forget to bring cash to purchase food, beer tickets, kids area tickets and handmade crafts.
