DuPage forest district seeks volunteers

If you enjoy the outdoors and relish an opportunity to support the environment, you might want to attend the "Leap into Volunteering Information Session" from 6:30 to 7;30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County headquarters, 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton.

The one-hour program will introduce potential volunteers to 10 different district programs featuring more than 50 volunteer opportunities, many of which offer weekly, monthly or one-time options to suit any schedule.

Individuals can volunteer at a district education center or work with a ranger. They can help monitor plants and wildlife or pitch in at a habitat-restoration workday or at the native plant nursery at Blackwell Forest Preserve.

Scouts, churches, corporations and community organizations can plan group volunteer workdays to help restore the biodiversity of DuPage County's native ecosystems.

For information about volunteering with the forest preserve district, contact Volunteer Services at (630) 933-7233 or dupageforest.org/volunteer.aspx.
