Girls volleyball: Palatine rallies to defeats Stevenson

Palatine's girls volleyball team tuned up for the second half of the Mid-Suburban West season with an impressive come-from behind 15-25, 27-25, 25-20 victory over visiting Stevenson (21-4).

Leading the Pirates (16-4) on attack were Claire Chaplinsky (10 kills), Beverly Ryan (7), Haley Holz (7), Corey Rinella (6) and Brooke Bauer (5).

Senior setter Sydney Christiansen set the offense with 39 assists while also collecting 13 digs. Chaplinsky (17-of-18 serve receiving) also had 13 digs.

Senior Alyssa Kronberg led the back row with 29 digs and also was 22-of-23 serve receiving.

Jori Radtke had a match-high 18 kills for Stevenson.

The Pirates begin the second round of MSL West today hosting Palatine.

Maine West d. Deerfield: With Jessica Riedl putting down 10 kills and Christy Kolosvary serving 4 aces, the host Warriors (11-8, 2-3) posted a 24-26, 25-23, 25-16 Central Suburban North triumph.
