Veterinary Specialty Center Hosts 2nd Annual Interactive Open House

Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) at 1515 Busch Parkway in Buffalo Grove will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, October 23rd from noon until 4 pm. The veterinary emergency and specialty facility's open house will feature interactive booths and behind-the-scenes tours. This will also be the Grand Opening for the new VSC Athletic Center at 1495 Busch Parkway and the kick off the organization's Holiday Pet Food Drive.

Visitors visit various department booths while we "diagnose and treat" that pet. Some of the planned highlights for the day include -

Repair-a-Bear - We'll be doing "surgery" on the stuffed pet or injured stuffed animals brought in by children that day to teach about surgery

My Pet Ate That? - Visitors may guess what a cat or dog ate by looking at radiographs

Pet First Aid Demonstration

Dog Physical Therapy Demonstrations

Food, Games and More - We'll also have food, games, face painting, balloons, additional cool medical displays and much more.

At the Athletic Center, VSC will be hosting activities that will include rescues, non-profits and regular pet businesses. There will be dogs and cats available for adoption to qualified adopters, booths by various pet non-profits and businesses, demonstrations, games, refreshments and more.

The Open House will also be the kick-off for VSC's Annual Pet Food Drive for Nina's Pet Food Pantry and Our House of Hope's Pet Food Pantry. Founded by Young at Heart Pet Rescue, Nina's Pet Food Pantry donates pet food and supplies to families in need at the Palatine Township Food Pantry and St. Francis De Sales food pantries. OHOH serves families in Lake County. The pantries help prevent many families from having to relinquish their pets when times are difficult. Last year, Veterinary Specialty Center donated over 3,600 pounds of dog and cat food, treats and toys to the organization.
