Cary Physical Therapy helps individuals with bone loss

Owners of Cary Physical Therapy and Gulbrandson Orthotics Ltd., along with their staff, have become experts in treating patients with osteoporosis and osteopenia through their "Midwest Center for Osteoporosis". A comprehensive approach is taken in teaching these patient safe strategies to exercise and in general, how to live a normal productive lifestyle while living with osteoporosis.

Deb Gulbrandson, physical therapist, with the aid of Gil Gulbrandson, certified orthotist taught a two day seminar at the Seton Medical Center in Austin Texas, Sept. 17-18. Included in attendees were physical therapists, occupational therapists and their assistants.

Jennifer Schaffer, physical therapist on staff at Cary Physical Therapy taught a "Bone Health" class to 37 seniors on Sept. 23 at The Senior Services Associates in Crystal Lake.

One out of two women and one out of four men over the age of 50 will have a bone fracture due to low bone density. Osteoporosis is a silent disease. Only 20 - 30% of spinal fractures are even painful. "As we age, we do not feel our bones getting weaker. Fortunately, there is something you can do about it and you can do it safely" says Schaffer.

For questions regarding the condition of osteoporosis, or to schedule a free assessment with one of their osteoporosis therapists, please contact them at (847) 516-8095.
