Haushahn, Crouch pace Glenbard South's victory

Glenbard South made short work of Fenton 41-7 in a Metro Suburban Blue football opener on Friday in Bensenville.

Raiders running back Adam Haushahn ran for 3 touchdowns and quarterback Jack Crouch threw for 2 more.

"It was a well-played game by our guys on all three phases," said Raiders coach Ryan Crissey. "Definitely the most complete game we've played. We executed on things we weren't executing on last week. So I think as a team we improved."

The Raiders (3-2, 1-0) opened the scoring with a 4-yard run by Haushahn. Crouch threw for 2 touchdowns to Michael Paprota, for 40 and 39 yards, and Haushahn scored his second touchdown on a 5-yard run.

Crouch threw an 11-yard pass to Peter Jeske to give the Raiders a 34-0 lead going into halftime.

"We came out with a little more energy this week," Crouch said. "We were more focused in practice. On offense the plays were there, the routes were open and we got in a good rhythm."

The Raiders piled up 345 yards of total offense in the first half while the Bison (2-3, 0-1) could only manage 49 yards.

"(Fenton was) not reacting well to how we run our offense," said Paprota, who caught two Crouch passes for touchdowns. "We got everything we were looking for. We have a couple of good games coming up. We're looking for some good practices and try to prepare better. We were hungry for a win."

The Raiders opened the second half with a 50-yard scoring drive capped off with a 3-yard run by Haushahn.

"We've been really battle-tested," Crissey said. "We dealt with injuries, overcoming those injuries and finally getting the right kids in the right place. I hope we are really hitting our stride going into the latter part of our season."

The Bison won big in its two most recent games but lost big in its previous two. Coach Mark Kos summed his team's play so far this season as inconsistent.

"We have a talented group that has to continue to work harder," Kos said. "We just can't beat ourselves. You can't give (Glenbard South) the ball."

The Bison avoided a shutout when quarterback D.J. Kelly broke through for 16-yard run with two minutes left in the game.

"The score said 34-0 at the half, we just played very poorly," Kos said. "We had three opportunities to have them punt the ball, but we let them off the hook, allowing them big plays. Our players have to learn what they could become if they are willing to work at it."
