Round Lake Park man facing weapons, child endangerment charges

A Round Lake Park man is facing charges of child endangerment, as well as a series of weapons charges, after authorities said that, sometime in July, the man put a gun in a 12-year-old's hand, held the weapon to the child's head and told the child to pull the trigger.

Armond M. Meyers, 43, of the 400 Block of East Lake Shore Drive, has been charged with one count of child endangerment, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of possession of firearm ammunition by a felon and one count of possession of a firearm without a FOID card. He was arrested after the Round Lake Park Police Department was notified by the Department of Child and Family Services, according to a news release.

Police said they recovered a Beretta 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun, a Marlin .22 caliber rifle and numbers rounds of ammunition from the home.

He is being held at the Lake County jail on $50,000 bond.
