Doughnuts and DeWyze: 5 ideas for the weekend

The first official weekend of fall offers lots of fests and other fun. So catch Lee DeWyze at Arlington International Racecourse, take in a comic musical or snack your way through Long Grove's Apple Fest. Here are five ideas for the weekend ahead. For others, go to dailyherald.com/calendar.

Hughes directs the revival featuring Patrick Tierney as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, who is drawn into the family business of reanimating the dead after he inherits the family's ancestral Transylvania estate. The weekend festival - which benefits the Autism Society of Illinois - features food, horse racing (Friday and Saturday only) and a full lineup of music, including DeWyze at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. $5 per day, $10 for a weekend pass.
