Girls volleyball: Grayslake Central's big finish sinks Antioch

Morgan Anderberg had 9 kills and 8 digs, and Grayslake Central's girls volleyball team came from behind to beat host Antioch 17-25, 25-14, 26-24 in a Northern Lake County Conference thriller Thursday night.

Lauren LaBeck had 7 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces for the Rams (10-6, 3-0), whose other contributors included Cassidy Beshel (5 kills), Abby Marassa (17 digs) and Kiara Andersen (8 digs).

"It was a great match tonight against a very good Antioch squad," Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. "We had a total team effort to get our 10th win of the season. Our girls battled tough and responded to getting challenged by Antioch's offense. A very solid win for us."

Stevenson d. Lake Forest: Jori Radtke pounded 19 kills, Sophie Sorenson added 11 kills and 6 aces, and the Patriots prevailed 19-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Stevenson improved to 21-3 and 3-0 in the North Suburban Conference.

Alex Cuc delivered 31 assists and chipped in 3 kills for the Patriots. Other contributors in the win included Chloe Robinson (13 digs), Hope Havenhill (3 kills) and Taylor Erickson (9 digs).

Libertyville d. Lake Zurich: Anna Lillydahl logged 27 assists and 5 kills, and the host Wildcats rallied to win 23-25, 25-13, 25-20 in North Suburban action.

Madison O'Brien pounded 9 kills for Libertyville (17-6, 4-0), while Haley Stevenson added seven. Caroline Frea and Anna Valente chipped in 5 and 4 kills, respectively, and Morgan O'Brien registered 22 digs and 4 aces.

Wauconda d. North Chicago: Summer Olsen served 6 aces and dished out 6 assists, as the visiting Bulldogs won 25-7, 25-11 in a Northern Lake County match.

Wauconda (7-10, 2-1) received 4 kills from Lauren Sexton and 3 aces from Aimee Berg. Abby Ribar, Amanda Mason and Nicole Carazas each had 2 kills.

Grant d. Lakes: The host Bulldogs won 25-21, 25-23 in Northern Lake County action.

Erica Grant had 15 kills, 6 digs and 2 blocks for Lakes. Katie Billetdeaux and McKenna Lahr added 5 and 3 kills, respectively, for the Eagles. Lahr also notched 17 digs.

Grayslake North d. Round Lake: The visiting Knights won 25-22, 25-22 to improve to 2-1 in the Northern Lake County Conference.

Coach Jim Sarver said his Knights played excellent defense and were led by seniors Jenna Pozezinski, Abby Fish (5 kills), Sidney Lovitsch (6 kills), Taylor Johnston (11 digs), Lexi Martineau and Carissa Popp (8 assists).

Erin McBriarty had 8 assists and 11 digs for Grayslake North, which has won three matches in a row.

Maine West d. Vernon Hills: The Cougars lost 23-25, 25-16, 28-26 to fall to 6-13 and 1-3 in the Central Suburban League North Division.
