'Hamilton' extends Chicago stay; tickets on sale Sept. 27

The "Hamilton" ticket scramble recommences at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, when a new block of tickets goes on sale for the Chicago production.

Days before previews begin at the PrivateBank Theatre, producers of the Broadway blockbuster announced the Chicago run of Lin-Manuel Miranda's hip-hop musical will extend 26 weeks, through Sept. 17, 2017.

Fans waited hours online and in line last June attempting to purchase tickets for the Tony Award-winning show about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

Tickets will be available online at BroadwayinChicago.com, by phone at (800) 775-2000 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the box office at 18 W. Monroe St., Chicago.

Tickets range from $65 to $180 and will be limited to six per household. In addition, there will be an online, day-of-show lottery for 44 $10 seats for all performances. Lottery seat locations will vary but will include front row tickets.

Last June, fans reported online resellers offering single tickets for as much as $8,000 per ticket. Theatergoers reported Ticketmaster prices of up to $600 for weekend and holiday seats.

"Hamilton" fans rejoice! Even before the start of its Chicago run, "Hamilton" has been granted an extension of 26 more weeks at Chicago's PrivateBank Theatre. Tickets for the extended run will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27.
