Hanover Park man sentenced to prison for June burglary

A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison for burglarizing a Hanover Park home in June and received an additional year for drug possession.

The judge ordered Jaymz Vaeth, of Hanover Park, to serve the sentences consecutively, according to court records.

Prosecutors say police were patrolling a residential area when they spotted Vaeth, who was known to one of the officers. They say Vaeth attempted to flee when the officers approached and a scuffle ensued. Officers recovered a bottle of prescription drugs, which did not belong to Vaeth, in a bag he was carrying.

The prescription was for someone in a house in the 6900 block of Hawthorne Lane. When police arrived at the house, they found a window broken and the home ransacked. They subsequently traced other items found in Vaeth's bag back to the home, prosecutors said.

Vaeth was also ordered to pay more than $1,100 in fines, records show.
