Fremd High School Alumnus wrote and directed feature film: DR. CHEAPSKATE

Jason Ancona, a former Palatine, IL, resident and 1990 Fremd High School graduate, wrote and directed a feature film called DR. CHEAPSKATE, which was a 2016 Toronto Film and Video Awards winner in the 'No Budget' Category.

DR. CHEAPSKATE was also accepted into a number of other festivals, including the Laugh or Die Comedy Festival, Independent Filmmakers Showcase in Los Angeles, Illinois Film Festival, SuperGeek Film Festival in Miami, and the Phoenix Comicon Film Festival.

DR. CHEAPSKATE was shot over weekends and nights in Austin, TX. With filming and post-production, it took just over two years to complete.

It was recently picked up by Indie Rights Movies and is now available on Amazon Prime. The distributor is working on getting it on other VOD platforms.

Here's the logline for DR. CHEAPSKATE: An isolated doctor burned by his ex takes penny pinching to the extreme until his friends force him out of his shell and to get back in the dating game.

Jason is directing another feature film called TAG TEAM TRUCKERS later this fall.

Jason's parents, John and Patty Ancona, and his sister Mary Owen, currently live in Barrington, IL.
