Boys soccer: Delgadillo, Warren deny Mundelein

Ruben Delgadillo had a goal and an assist, as Warren's boys soccer team blanked visiting Mundelein 2-0 in North Suburban Conference action Tuesday night.

Hugo Flores scored off an assist from Delgadillo to stake the Blue Devils (12-1-2) to a 1-0 lead at halftime. Delgadillo's second-half goal was assisted by Mike Bassier.

Jeffery Pioquinto made 5 saves to earn the shutout.

Grayslake Central 1, Antioch 0: The host Rams got a second-half goal from Nick Walker (his sixth) assisted by Bryan Wehde to win the Northern Lake County Conference match.

David Young made 3 saves in recording his fifth clean sheet for Grayslake Central (7-4-1, 2-1).

Alex Ruano made 5 saves in net for Antioch (5-9-2, 0-2).

"Central pressed us and created several opportunities early," Sequoits assistant coach Matt Bohmann said. "We weathered the storm and slowly inserted ourselves into the game. Central got their goal on a counter attack midway through the second half. We created several chances, including a breakaway late, but couldn't find the back of the net. It's a frustrating loss because I thought we contained them very well and limited their chances as the game progressed. Central has a good team and, despite our record, we know we can play with anyone."

Vernon Hills 1, Maine East 0: The host Cougars moved to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the Central Suburban League, as Stephen Auw scored the game-winner in the first half and Chris White picked up the assist.

Nick Burrows made 6 saves and recorded his second win in net in a row and first varsity shutout.

"I thought we came out very strong tonight and really had a ton of quality chances in front of goal, especially in the first half," Vernon Hills coach Mike McCaulou said. "I think if we convert some of those chances, we would have settled in much more in the second half. But Maine East continued to come at us and press us, which made for an interesting second half. It was a hard-fought game and it is always great to keep a clean sheet."

Lake Forest 2, Lake Zurich 2: Lake Zurich's Dylan Niedzwicki scored on a header to give Lake Zurich a 2-1 lead, before Lake Forest netted the equalizer in the North Suburban match.

Daniel Hanson and Christian McCauley scored for Lake Forest.
