CLC offers tours of new Grayslake Campus facilities

High school students who have the Columbus Day holiday off can explore renovations and additions to the College of Lake County's Grayslake Campus and get a head start on their college plans.

On Monday, Oct. 10, college representatives will conduct tours of the new Café Willow, the Welcome and One Stop Center and several other facilities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The tours will originate at the Welcome and One Stop Center in the B Wing, where students can take care of enrollment, course registration, financial aid, transcripts and payments all in one convenient location.

The 20-minute tours, which will start at 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 2 p.m., will also include the following areas:

• New spaces: Student Commons, Café Willow overlooking Willow Lake, LancerZone campus store, Student Activities resource center and the Career and Job Placement Center.

• Smart classrooms and high-tech labs featuring the latest flat-screen monitors, projectors, furniture and more.

• Upgrades to the Physical Education Center gym.

• Science Building (opening 2017): View the exterior of this building, which will feature leading-edge science, technology, engineering and math labs and the latest in energy-saving features.

"The tour will help students see why CLC is a smart choice to begin their college education," said Dr. Patrick Peyer, dean of enrollment services. "The new facilities have received very positive reviews from students. In addition, you can save thousands of dollars by starting at CLC and transferring to a four-year college, or choosing a two-year career program that will prepare you for a great career."
